Welcome to the Web site of the Division of AIDS, STD, and TB Laboratory Research (DASTLR) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Division, part of CDC's National Center for Infectious Diseases (NCID),
was established in 1995 to centralize CDC's laboratory studies on human immunodeficiency
virus (HIV), other retroviruses, other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), and
mycobacteria, including Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The Division also conducts
CDC's epidemiologic and laboratory studies of hemophilia and other coagulation disorders
and assists in the development of prevention and educational activities for persons with
bleeding disorders. In addition, the Division provides laboratory support for the
surveillance, epidemiologic, and clinical activities of CDC's National Center for HIV, STD, and TB
Prevention (NCHSTP); provides reference laboratory services for state and local health
departments; and serves as a World Health Organization
Collaborating Center on HIV infection and AIDS. Specific information regarding research programs, publications, and training opportunities is included within the web pages of each branch: • Gonorrhea
