International Cooperative Biodiversity Groups (ICBG) - A Joint Agency Program

Program Announcement on the ICBG Web Site

The National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, and the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service and US Forest Service have jointly issued a Request for Applications (RFA) for the International Cooperative Biodiversity Groups (ICBG) grant program for integrated natural product drug discovery, bioinventory, conservation and economic capacity building in developing countries. Applications are encouraged that consider microorganisms from a variety of sources, marine coral reef organisms, and/or plants as target organisms for both inventory and drug discovery research. Applications must be submitted by a U.S. organization with a developing country partner. Other developed country partners may be associate program members. In addition to comprehensive grant proposals, planning proposals are also invited to compete for planning grants to consolidate development of new projects. This RFA and a number of resource pages, including Frequently Asked Questions, ICBG Government Technical Advisory Group members, potential private sector partners, and access and benefit-sharing articles are on the ICBG website (see link above),to facilitate the development of new applications.
