5 A Day Fruits and Vegetables

These data are from the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), a random-digit telephone survey conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and state health departments.

What is BRFSS?
The Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS), the world's largest telephone survey, tracks health risks in the United States. Information from the survey is used to improve the health of the American people. Generally, questions relate to personal behaviors that increase risk for one or more of the ten leading causes of death in the United States. For the 5 A Day Program, survey participants were asked their average daily frequency of fruit and vegetable consumption.

The research tool below allows you to compare fruit and vegetable consumption nationwide to your state or compare your state to another state by year.  It also allows you to compare fruit and vegetable consumption by different groupings such as BMI, physical activity, age, education, income, race, and gender. It also allows you to view trends over time.
