Major Sources of Pollution in Region 8 Indian Country:
The Region has issued 8 Prevention of Significant Deterioration permits to sources on the reservations. Potential of approximately 42 sources subject to the Title V program. These sources include: compressor stations, a power plant, gas processing plants, lumber mill, oil wells, electronics manufacturing, cobalt and tungsten recycling plant, sulfuric acid plant, and metals coating.
 
 
Minor Sources of Pollution in Region 8 Indian Country:
Past investigations have shown hundreds of potential minor sources. These sources include: auto repair, boilers, rock crushers, grain elevators, paint shops, gravel pits, asphalt batch plants, small landfills, medical incinerators, dry cleaners, etc.

 
 
Tribal Governments or Organizations Currently Receiving Air Grants:  103 and 105
Wind River, Rosebud Sioux, Assiniboine & Sioux Tribes, Blackfeet, Northern Cheyenne, Confederated Salish & Kootenai Tribes, Oglala Sioux Tribe, Southern Ute, Three Affiliated, Sisseton-Wahpeton Sioux and Ute Indian, Spirit Lake Nation, Yankton Sioux Tribe, NW Band of Shoshone Nation, Fort Belknap Indian Community, and Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe.
 
 
Programs Implemented by Tribes in Indian Country:
Currently, no Region 8 Tribes have EPA-approved Clean Air Act programs or delegations. The Tribes in nonattainment areas have implemented PM10 control measures (to reduce re-entrained road dust) to reduce the impact of particulates on their air quality. Most tribes are investigating the feasibility or building a foundation for implementing CAA programs by training staff, educating the community, conducting air monitoring and emissions inventories, drafting regulations, and applying for TAS for the grant match reduction.
