Anchorage, AK -- People affected by severe winters storms and flooding in Kenai Peninsula Borough, Kodiak Island Borough, and the Chignik Bay area have until Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, to apply for federal disaster assistance.

That's the last day to apply for grant programs administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and low-interest loans provided by the U. S. Small Business Administration (SBA) for people of Alaska who were impacted by the storms and floods that occurred Oct. 23 through Dec. 20, 2002.

Homeowners, renters and business owners in the presidentially declared disaster area are eligible to apply. Register by calling FEMA's toll free number, 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for speech- and hearing-impaired persons. Application may be made between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday until February 3, 2003.
