Transborder Home | Detailed Description | Monthly and Annual Detail Data | Searchable Databases

NOTE: July 2004 is the most recent data.

The Transborder Surface Freight Data provides North American merchandise trade data by commodity type, by surface mode of transportation (rail, truck, pipeline, mail and other), and with geographic detail for United States (U.S.) exports to and imports from Canada and Mexico. These data, available since April 1993, are a subset of official U.S. international merchandise trade data. The purpose of the data, updated on a monthly basis, is to provide transportation information on North American trade flows. This type of information is being used to monitor freight flows and changes to them since the signing of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) by the United States, Canada and Mexico in December 1993 and its entry into force on January 1, 1994. The data are also being used for trade corridor studies, transportation infrastructure planning, marketing and logistics analyses, and other purposes.
