Research Project:
Guidelines for Sampling and Interpreting Dynamic Soil Properties and Soil Functions
Location:
Range Management Research
Project Number: 6235-11210-005-23
Project Type:
Reimbursable
Start Date: Jul 10, 2003
End Date: Jul 09, 2008
Objective:
To develop a set of guidelines for measuring and interpreting dynamic soil properties as they relate to natural resource management in the national parks.
Approach:
A post-doc will be hired to compile existing literature reviews and review and synthesize additional literature addressing current and past efforts to inventory, monitor or interpret dynamic soil properties relevant to their conservation management. The post-doc will then acquire data and metadata from existing studies, collect additional data, as needed and as time allows. He or she will then develop protocols to be used by soil scientists to interpret dynamic soil property data with respect to soil functions important for preserving, restoring or maintaining the natural resources of parks.
