Location: Range Management Research

Project Number: 6235-11210-005-33
Project Type: Reimbursable

Start Date: Sep 01, 2004
End Date: Dec 30, 2005

Objective:
To develop recommendations for development of an Ecological Site Description manual. The recommendations will be based on a literature review, research data and expert opinion.

Approach:
(1) Review relevant literature based on scientific research that addresses the following issues: (a) Ecological indicators relevant to inventory, assessment, monitoring and management. (b) Statistical design. (c) Quality analysis and control. (2) Analyze and interpret previously unpublished data, as relevant and appropriate. (3) Solicit expert opinion from members of the scientific, policy and management communities through interviews and three workshops. The review will be based on our own research in this area and on sources representing academia, multiple federal and state agencies (including the USFS, BLM and NRCS), as well as other individuals with expertise and experience in natural resources research, inventory, assessment, monitoring and management.
