Nomination
President Bush to Nominate One and Designate One to Serve in His Administration
President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate one
individual and his intention to designate one individual to serve in
his administration.
The President intends to nominate D. Jeffery Hirschberg to be a
Member of the Broadcasting Board of Governors for the remainder of a
three-year term expiring August 13, 2004. Hirschberg is presently a
Consultant with Coudert Brothers in Washington, D.C. and President of
Hirschberg, P.C. He is a member of the Advisory Board of New Media
Strategies, and he serves as a Director of the U.S. Russia Investment
Fund and the Israel Policy Forum. From 1987 to 1999, Hirschberg was
with Ernst and Young from 1987 to 1999 in several positions including
National Director of Government Affairs and Vice Chairman of Government
Affairs. Originally from Wisconsin, he is a graduate of the University
of Wisconsin and Marquette University Law School.
The President has designated Donna M. Erwin to be Acting Special
Trustee of the Office of the Special Trustee for American Indians in
the Department of the Interior, effective Wednesday July 31, 2002.
Erwin joined the Bureau of Indian Affairs in 1992 as Deputy Director of
the Office of Funds Management, and she became Director in 1996. She
was promoted to Deputy Special Trustee for Systems and Projects in the
Office of the Special Trustee in July 2001, and she has been in the
Office of Trust Transition since November 2001. Ms. Erwin is an
enrolled member of the Muscogee Creek Nation of Oklahoma.
