Research Project: Gene Discovery in Pisum Sativum Ssp. Abyssinicum

Location: Grain Legume Genetics Physiology Research

Project Number: 5348-21000-014-03
Project Type: Specific C/A

Start Date: Sep 25, 2003
End Date: Aug 31, 2005

Objective:
The objective of this cooperative research project is to identify novel and useful genes in Pisum sativum ssp. abyssinicum and transfer these genes to adapted and cultivated genotypes.

Approach:
Accessions of P.s. ssp. abyssinicum have been hybridized with improved P.s. cultivars to generate recombinant inbred line (RIL) populations. These populations will be used to map novel traits and further characterize the Pisum genetic map.Documents SCA with Montana State U. Formerly 5348-21000-007-03S (10/03).
