Mission:
The mission of the Virus and Prion Diseases of Livestock Research Unit is to identify and characterize viruses and prions associated with economically important diseases of livestock and to develop methods to control or eradicate these diseases. Current research focuses on transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSE), postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome (PWMWS), bovine viral diarrhea (BVD), swine influenza (SI), and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS).
