Subject:    Internet Acceptable Use Policy Reminder

The purpose of this Information Bulletin (IB) is to remind you that the policy governing the acceptable use of the Internet by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) employees issued in Instruction Memorandum (IM) No. 97-177 and extended under Director's Office Information Bulletin No. 99-001 continues to be in effect.

In summary, the Bureau promotes employees' use of the Internet from government facilities or through government equipment that enables you to:

  • perform Bureau missions; and
  • develop Internet skills and improve your knowledge related to your job.

You must remember that use of the Internet should always be in the interest of the Bureau. Such use must be appropriate in its frequency and duration and relate to your assigned duties. You must not use the Internet for any purpose which would reflect negatively on the Bureau.
