Objective:
Develop protocols for use of satellite imagery that BLM specialists will use in planning, developing and implementing public land health standards and permit/lease renewals. This protocol will also assist in identifying ecological states and transitions to compare against recently developed state-and-transition models. This will provide information on the capability of a site and what kind of actions may be necessary to move it to a more desirable state.
Approach:
Develop and test methods for linking ground-based soil and vegetative data to remotely sensed data. Advise BLM on which method is most reliable.
