Objective:
Determine the concentration of various flavonoids in flower petals from Hibiscus species.

Approach:
Flavonoids will be extracted from air dried plant material with methanol and water. Extracts will be subjected to HPLC analysis and compared to standards. Air-dried plant material will also be subjected to hydrolysis. New flavanols will be purified and identified.
