$30 Million Available for Public Health Research
Almost $30 million has been committed by CDC to support innovative public health research aimed at promoting and protecting the health of Americans—focusing on producing evidence that will help employers make better choices in wellness programs.

CDC Awards Funds for Genomics and Chronic Disease Prevention
Four states (Michigan, Minnesota, Oregon, and Utah) have been awarded cooperative agreements with CDC to support capacity building and program planning using genomics and family history tools for chronic disease prevention. The four states will work closely with CDC's Office of Genomics and Disease Prevention (OGDP) and the CDC's National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP) to develop agency-level capacity to integrate genomics into state and local public health chronic disease prevention activities.

Consolidating and Streamlining Program Announcements
CDC's National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, in concert with the Procurement and Grants Office, have consolidated 25 program announcements into five.

The Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant
Information on the Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant (PHHSBG), the primary source of funding that provides states the latitude to fund any of the 265 national health objectives in Healthy People 2010.
