Mission:
The Land Management and Water Conservation Research Unit conducts multidisciplinary research on the principles and practices which enhance soil, water, air quality and weed management in economically feasible and environmentally sound agroecosystems. The Unit conducts research on 1) water erosion prediction and control under freeze/thaw and unfrozen conditions; 2) wind erosion impacts on soil degradation and air quality and its prediction and control; 3) best management practices for no-till and reduced tillage for soil quality, weed management and sustainable crop production; 4) weed management, fertility practices and microbial technology which improve plant growth and soil, water and air quality, and 5) new information on the biology and ecology of jointed goatgrass and Russian thistle and their interaction with dryland crops. We are committed to excellence in conservation research for agricultural productivity, sustainability and environmental quality.
