Mission:
To improve the genetic and productive efficiency of cattle through fundamental research on gene expression, and marker-assisted genetic selection. Research in the laboratory uses methods of molecular biology and bioinformatics to: enhance genetic selection by the identification of quantitative trait loci, identify genes that are important for enhanced productivity and disease resistance, and develop fundamental knowledge about physiology and development of the mammary gland and gastrointestinal tract. Implicit in these endeavors is the development of molecular biological and bioinformatic tools to facilitate functional genomic studies.
