Weather Education Page

On this page we will have many links to different sites to foster weather education in both the classroom and at home. One of the best ways that the NWS can help in this mission of weather education is by providing the opportunity for students to participate in tours of the NWS office. At the Morristown office, we offer tours to any group that would be interested including school classes, scouting groups, pilot groups, or any other association. However, due to the size of the NWS office and the advanced material, it is suggested that groups coming into the office for a tour should be less than 40 people and at least in the 5th grade.

If your group or class cannot make it out to the NWS office, we can come to you if you are located within the Morristown County Warning Area. We can give presentations on many different subjects, including severe weather, the NWS, how to make a forecast, and careers in meteorology. Again, we generally like to speak with groups that are at least at the 5th grade level. If you would like to schedule either a tour of the NWS office or to have us come out to give a presentation, please contact Howard Waldron (Warning Coordination Meteorologist) or phone (423) 586-8706, Monday-Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM.
