Directed research, field demonstrations and evaluation of biological and related physical/chemical technologies applicable to the treatment of hazardous wastes, including research programs related to the biotreatment of chlorinated aliphatics and aromatics, nitroaromatics, and hydrocarbons. Research manager, Amgen, Inc., for 8 years. Developed methods and applications for the genetic engineering of metabolic operons. Invented biological process for the synthesis of the textile dye indigo. Organized Specialty Chemicals Group at Amgen. Graduate, the University of Georgia with a Ph.D. in Microbiology, and M.S. and B.S. degrees from the University of New Mexico.
