CRITICAL FOR TAXPAYERS ACCORDING TO GROUP
WASHINGTON, DC –
Iowa’s Fourth District Congressman Tom Latham has been
recognized by the nation’s leading taxpayer advocacy group
with the 2004 “Hero of the Taxpayer” award. Latham was
honored at an informal ceremony in the United States Capitol
with the presentation of the award based on his votes
considered to be the most critical for American taxpayers.
“Constituents
deserve to know who has worked for taxpayers’ interests, and
not special interests,” noted Grover Norquist, president of
the award sponsor Americans for Tax Reform. “Representative
Tom Latham is squarely on the side of taxpayers, and
Americans for Tax Reform offers its thanks and
congratulations.”
The group’s
decision was based on Latham’s votes on tax limitation,
spending control, free trade, and federal regulation.
Americans for Tax Reform also noted that their recognition
of Congressman Latham was also based on his pledge to oppose
any and all tax increases.![](/peth04/20041118091115im_/http://www.house.gov/latham/PHOTOS/taxaward1.jpg)
“I am honored to
again be recognized by Americans for Tax Reform for the
actions I have taken on behalf of Iowa taxpayers and
families,” said Congressman Latham. “I have always worked
to keep Washington’s hands out of the pockets of hardworking
Iowans so that they are able to keep more of the money that
they earn for their families.”
