Test methods are approved procedures for measuring the presence and concentration of physical and chemical pollutants, evaluating properties such as toxic properties of chemical substances, and measuring the effects of substances under various conditions. The EPA has formulated hundreds of test methods that must be used by U.S. labs. Test methods are made available to the scientific and regulated communities in several ways, including the Code of Federal Regulations, the Technology Transfer Network and through EPA publications.
