Research Project: Determination of Runoff Quantity and Quality of Container-Grown Plant Production

Location: Horticulture and Breeding Research

Project Number: 6618-13000-002-01
Project Type: Specific C/A

Start Date: Sep 28, 2000
End Date: Sep 26, 2005

Objective:
The objective of this cooperative research project is to determine runoff quantity and quality as influenced by production practices commonly used to grow container plants.

Approach:
Monitor irrigation runoff from experimental production surface receiving overhead irrigation. The amount of runoff expressed, as a fraction of irrigation water applied will be calculated. The influence of plant growth characteristics, plant spacing, production surface, and cultural practices such as irrigation and fertilization influence on runoff quantity and quality will be investigated.
