Receipt of Advice to Quit Smoking in Medicare Managed Care — United States, 1998

The September 8, 2000, issue of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) contains a  report entitled, "Receipt of Advice to Quite Smoking in Medicare Managed Care —United States, 1998." The report indicates that approximately 13% of enrollees in Medicare managed care reported they were current smokers, and among those who visited a physician or health-care provider, approximately 71% reported receiving advice to quit.
