Research Project: SALTCEDAR BIOLOGICAL CONTROL

Location: Exotic and Invasive Weeds Research

Project Number: 5325-22000-017-31
Project Type: Reimbursable

Start Date: Aug 20, 2004
End Date: Sep 30, 2005

Objective:
1) Conduct field collection and diapause characterization of Diorhabda elongata from Nevada. 2) Assess strain differences in Diorhabda elongata populations and assist in the development of predictive models of beetle phenology.

Approach:
A combination of field monitoring and experimental studies will be conducted in Nevada and California sites to assess beetle biology, including diapause induction and termination . These data will then be used to estimate parameters for a predictive model that will estimate beetle maturity during spring and summer months. Documents Reimbursable with APHIS. Log 27472.
