Objective:
Develop cuphea as a commercial crop in Illinois.

Approach:
Test plots of new cuphea varieties will be grown in various locations of Illinois to determine their agronomic potential. Superior varieties will be selected for future breeding and seed increase. Herbicides for broadleaf control in cuphea will be determined. Row spacing, water use, harvest date and harvesting parameters will be determined.
