Join us for the Journey in 2005!

There has never been a better time to visit Fort Clatsop than for the 2004-2006 Lewis and Clark Bicentennial Commemoration. A visit this summer begins at the gateway to the park, Netul Landing. During the peak summer months of June, July and August, Fort Clatsop has a shuttle bus system in place that runs from Netul Landing to the visitor center/fort replica. Visitors can drive and park at Netul Landing, but parking is limited, particularly between the hours of 11AM and 3PM.

The easiest way to reach Fort Clatsop starts with a ride on the Lewis and Clark Explorer Shuttle from the Astoria Transit Center, Fort Stevens State Park campground and a number of other community locations. Admission to Fort Clatsop also serves as a three-day pass for the Lewis and Clark Explorer Shuttle. To get in the spirit of exploration, leave your car at your lodging, campground or designated day parking lots in Astoria, Warrenton, Fort Stevens or Seaside and take the Lewis and Clark Explorer Shuttle.

On the Explorer you can visit other Lewis and Clark sites from Long Beach, Washington to Cannon Beach, Oregon including Fort Clatsop, the Salt Works, Ecola State Park, Fort Stevens State Park and Cape Disappointment State Park. For more information on Lewis and Clark Explorer bus routes please see www.ridethebus.org, or call Sunset Empire Transit District at (800) 776-6406. Once you have arrived in the region information is also available at the Astoria Transit Center in downtown Astoria, local visitor centers and local lodging.
