Jose S. Longoria, of Mission, Texas, enlisted in the U. S. Army at 18 years of age. During his two years of service he saw action in the Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944, the last German offensive in the west during World War II.
