Tax Relief for Iowa's Families
I was
proud to join President George W. Bush in Des Moines
last week as critical tax relief for Iowa’s families
was
signed into law.
I’ve been saying all along that I would do
everything I could to halt tax increases on Iowa’s
families, and that’s what we’ve accomplished.
Highlights of the bill include:
-
Marriage penalty relief is
extended through 2010,
preventing a tax hike on
approximately 27 million
taxpaying couples.
-
The expanded 10-percent
income tax bracket is
extended.
-
The $1,000 child tax credit
is extended.
-
Continuing relief for middle
class families from the
Alternative Minimum Tax
(AMT).
A
Community EffortJim recently
presented a special print to White House Liaison Riley Swinehart, who
accepted on behalf of President
Bush. The Determination Team, which includes a
number of dedicated
Clayton County residents, has been selling
the print to raise funds for care packages
and support for troops and their families.
