June 24, 2004-Congressman Holden, Ranking Member of the Conservation, Credit, Rural Development and Research Subcommittee of the House Agriculture Committee invited Dr. Mel Billingsley, President and CEO of Life Sciences Greenhouse of Central Pennsylvania to testify at a June 24, 2004 hearing to discuss the current state of the biotechnology sector. Life Sciences Greenhouse, located in Harrisburg, PA, is an innovative entity whose purpose is to enhance and translate important discoveries in the life sciences into economic growth and job cration in the Central PA Region.

Congressman Tim Holden announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA) announced the opening of a Disaster Recovery Center (DRC) in Dauphin County to assist individuals and business owners who suffered losses and damages from Tropical Depressions Frances and Ivan.

Col. Dave Gerstenlauer - President of the Pennsylvania National Guard Association; Congressman Holden; First Sgt. Michael Leffler
On March 3, 2004, Congressman Holden received The Charles Dick Medal of Merit from the National Guard Association of the United States. The award, established in 1988, is designed to recognize contributions to the National Guard by elected representatives to legislative bodies at the state and national levels. The medal acknowledges an individual who has provided exceptionally strong support to the National Guard such that it has had a lasting effect on the future of the National Guard. Congressman Holden was nominated for the award by the Pennsylvania National Guard.
