Beauprez Named "Senior Life Saver" and "Senior Guardian"
On behalf of almost 5,000 senior supporters, RetireSafe announced Beauprez as the recipient of the
2004 Senior Life Saver Award, recognizing his outstanding efforts to provide safe, affordable medications to older
Americans and for protecting medical innovation for the future.
RetireSafe Vice President Michelle Flasari
praised Beauprez for his voting record on seniors' issues in the 108th Congress. "Bob Beauprez is truly a senior
life saver. Because of his leadership, seniors in Colorado now have access to safe and affordable medications.
Today, they are enjoying discounts of 25 to 30 percent off of their monthly prescription drug bills thanks to
Medicare's new discount drug cards, and looking forward to even larger savings in 2006 when Medicare implements
its full prescription drug benefit."
In addition, with the recent release of its 108th Congressional Vote Rating,
The Seniors Coalition recognized Congressman Beauprez with "The Senior Guardian Medal of Honor," an award for members
of Congress whose voting scores exemplify a strong commitment to the well being of their senior constituents.
The
"Vote Rating" scores each member on issues ranging from the Medicare prescription drug program, tort reform, the death
tax and taxation on social security benefits. The scores identify whether a member's vote record shows a depth of
commitment to the needs and concerns of America's seniors.
According to The Seniors Coalition, only those
who consistently protect and preserve the quality of life of older Americans are eligible for this distinctive
honor. The award recipients have demonstrated an unwavering commitment to seniors of today and a strong
vision for the seniors of tomorrow.
Congressman Beauprez' commitments: - Support
current legislation and continue efforts to reform Medicare, allowing seniors more leverage and control
over their own healthcare.
- Support the new voluntary Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit,
a program that will bring almost $10 million in additional help for low-income seniors in the 7th District.
- Protect access to safe, FDA-approved medications.

Local Students Recognized in 2004 Wildlife Refuge Scholarship Contest
On October 23, Congressman Beauprez attended the 4th Annual
Wildlife Refuge College Scholarship Celebration at the Rocky Mountain Arsenal in Commerce City. He was there to
congratulate six scholarship winners from his district.
"It was a privilege to meet these bright and talented
high school students," said Beauprez. "I was impressed with their writing skills as well as their knowledge and
concern for environmental issues directly affecting Colorado."
The scholarship competition is held each year
by the Rocky Mountain Arsenal Wildlife Society, a non-profit organization, that supports environmental education
programs. Many students from the three school districts adjoining the refuge competed by submitting an essay
about the role of the National Wildlife Refuge System in society. This years' particular topic was "Conserving
Lands." A panel of judges reviewed and scored the papers, selecting 3 finalists from each school district.
"What
a wonderful kick-off to our celebration of National Wildlife Refuge Week. We really appreciate Mr. Beauprez' continued
interests in our Refuges," said Dean Rundle, Fish and Wildlife Director at Rocky Mountain Arsenal. "I know the
students and local officials present also appreciated his taking time to visit RMA NWR during this busy season."
