Site selected for Vets Medical Complex in So. Nevada

Southern Nevada veterans have something to celebrate following the selection of a site to house a new state-of-the-art VA medical complex.

Congresswoman Berkley joined with Secretary of Veterans Affairs Anthony Principi to announce the selection of the parcel in North Las Vegas. The site, which is located near Pecos road and the Las Vegas Beltway, will be home to the Valley's first full-service VA hospital, outpatient clinic and long-term care facility. Work on the medical complex is set to begin in 2006 and should be completed by 2009.

As a member of the Veterans' Affairs Committee, Berkley has played a leading role in efforts to win approval and funding for the $295 million project, which is needed to serve more than 200,000 local veterans.
