13th District Counties Added For Individual Assistance For Hurricane Ivan

Federal disaster aid for individuals affected by Hurricane Ivan has been extended to include Alamance, Alleghany, Ashe, Caswell, Davidson, Forsyth, Graham, Guilford, Randolph, Rockingham, Stokes, Swain, and Wilkes counties.

Affected individuals and business owners may apply for assistance immediately by calling the toll-free registration number, 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY) for hearing and speech impaired. Registrars are taking applications 24 hours a day until further notice. If the wait is long, please remember that others are affected by on-going disasters around the country and are also calling to register for assistance. The current non-peak calling times are between midnight and 4:30 a.m.

A North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund has also been established to accept monetary donations. The fund is managed by the Governor's Office, in partnership with the United Way of North Carolina. There is no administrative cost associated with the fund, and 100 percent of the donated funds will go to the victims. Make checks payable to the North Carolina Disaster Relief Fund and mail them to:
