Congresswoman Brown Encourages Community Involvement

(Washington, DC) Congresswoman Corrine Brown made the following statement:
“In a meeting with Dr. Bill Cosby on September 8th, 2004, my colleagues and I in the Congressional Black Caucus pledged to join him in his quest to spearhead a 'new social movement to help strengthen black families.' From Dr. Cosby's perspective, the struggles of African Americans today stem not only from pervasive racism in our society, but also from the "internal social ills of black communities."

Congresswoman Corrine Brown Strongly Urges Reauthorization of Assault Weapon Ban

(Washington, DC) Congresswoman Corrine Brown strongly denounced the Republican leadership's decision to allow the 10 year federal ban on assault weapons to expire today. The 1994 ban, passed during The Clinton Administration in 1994, made 19 different types of military style firearms, such as Uzis and AK-47s, illegal.
