PROGRESS REPORT 2003-04
It’s been an exciting and busy two years for me in the House of Representatives. As the
108th Congress winds to a close, I thought it would be helpful to detail for you our many
legislative accomplishments and constituent outreach efforts.
This Congress has been working hard to improve the lives of all
Americans, through the passage of important legislation like my bill to have a new
veterans’ cemetery located in southeastern Pennsylvania and my legislation to permanently
repeal the marriage penalty from the tax code, a measure that would return tax dollars
back into the pockets of millions of hard-working families. Since arriving in Congress,
I’ve been actively looking out for the interests of the 6th District by introducing bills
that would preserve our pristine farm lands, require the coordination of smart growth
development, and finally bring about real protection for victims of identity theft.
I’ve also supported legislation to address the growing medical
liability crisis (HEALTH Act, H.R. 5), to limit the importation of out-of-state trash,
and to protect and preserve valuable 6th District environmental treasures and resources,
like our beautiful forests
and our streams and drinking water.
Additionally, I’ve done a great deal to listen and respond to the
needs of my constituents. For instance, in the last two years my office has responded
to more than 11,000 legislative inquiries and welcomed more than 5,100 new residents
to the 6th District. And at nearly 380 outreach events in Berks, Chester, Lehigh, and Montgomery
Counties, I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to meet thousands great people, and to talk
about their concerns and listen to their issues.
Please enjoy my Progress Report for 2003-04 and, if you have any
