House Destroys Draft Demagoguery, Defeats Democrat Conscription Bill
WASHINGTON- U.S. Rep. J.D. Hayworth and an overwhelming bipartisan majority quashed a Democrat proposal to reinstate the military draft Tuesday. The House voted 402-2 to defeat a bill offered by Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) that would draft men and women between the ages of 18 and 26 for two years of military and national service. The two votes favoring the draft were cast by Democrats.
