Langevin Provisions to Help Disabled Work, Contribute to Society Signed Into Law - The President has signed into law legislation reauthorizing the Assistive Technology Act, which will provide over $26 million per year in federal funding to help states establish and maintain systems to help individuals with disabilities gain access to assistive technology. Assistive technology devices are used to increase, maintain, or improve functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities. Rhode Island received over $300,000 in funding from this program in FY2004.

Langevin’s Universal Health Care Plan Offers Relief for Working Families, Small Businesses - Today at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, joined by doctors, nurses, small business owners and other stakeholders, Congressman Jim Langevin officially announced his introduction of legislation that would offer all Americans access to affordable health care, by leveraging the negotiating power of the federal government. Langevin's 'American Health Benefits Program' would extend to all Americans the generous health care choices currently available to Members of Congress and federal employees.

Kennedy and Langevin to House Leaders: Let Us Vote on Senate 9/11 Bill - Congressmen Patrick Kennedy and Jim Langevin today expressed their disappointment with the Republican House Leadership's approach to implementing the recommendations of the bipartisan 9/11 Commission. They charged GOP leaders with playing politics with critical national security issues and urged a quick vote on legislation mirroring a pending Senate measure sponsored by Senators Susan Collins and Joe Lieberman, which has broad support.
