Washington, D.C. – Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D- CA - San Jose) today sent a letter to Rod Paige, Secretary of Education, calling for an investigation into reports that the parents guide "Helping Your Child Learn History" was ordered reprinted because of complaints made by Mrs. Lynne Cheney, the wife of the Vice President of the United States. Rep. Lofgren questioned the review process and whether political considerations were made in this decision.

Washington, D.C. – In light of the Hospital Corporation of America’s (HCA) announcement that the San Jose Medical Center will close even earlier than scheduled, Reps. Zoe Lofgren and Mike Honda (D –San Jose) Thursday sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist asking for assistance to keep the San Jose Medical Center open. Senator Frist’s family owns the HCA.

Zoe Lofgren (D – San Jose) applauds the passage of National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program Reauthorization Act, a bill that she co-sponsored to reauthorize the National Earthquake Hazards Reduction Program (NEHRP) and to establish the National Windstorm Impact Reduction Program. The bill passed the House on Friday night by unanimous vote. This legislation is designed to help prevent loss of lives and property due to earthquakes and windstorms.
