Moran Announces Law Enforcement Funding at Arlington County Board Meeting

October 2, 2004 -- Congressman Moran presents check in the amount of $742,108 to Arlington County Chairwoman Barbara Favola and Police Chief Scott for purchase of new police equipment including seven new cruisers,  video recording devices and other equipment to enhance the County's gang prevention  and homeland security response capabilties.  The Congressman obtained the roughly  $740,000 in grant money through the appropriations process to give police officers the equipment they need to safeguard the community in the post 9/11 security environment.

Moran Speaks for Assault Ban

Alexandria, Virginia September 13th – Congressman Jim Moran, Virginia Democrat, joined with Virginia General Assembly Delegate Al Eisenberg, Alexandria Mayor Bill Euille, representatives from the Alexandria, Arlington and Fairfax Police Departments, Jim Sollo and Bob Ricker with the Virginians Against Handgun Violence, Clarence Edwards from the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement, the Million Mom March and other local elected and law enforcement leaders to express their support for reauthorization of the Assault Weapons Ban (AWB) and to speak out against President Bush and the Republican controlled Congress’ unwillingness to renew the law.
