Do You Have Your Red Ribbon?
The devastating rate of drug and alcohol abuse by America’s youth is cause for alarm and its
prevention and treatment remains one of our nation’s top priorities. Research indicates that youth who
engage in the early use of alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana are more likely to engage in other harmful
behaviors such as crime, delinquency, and other illegal drug use. For this reason, parents, teachers,
law enforcement officers, health care professionals, and community leaders must continue to actively
communicate to our nation’s youth that drug and alcohol abuse is dangerous and prevents millions of
people from reaching their full potential.
