Upton Back Home from Iraq
Purpose of trip was to investigate Oil for Food program and meet with U.S. troops

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Fred Upton (R-St. Joseph) safely returned to Andrews Air Force Base from the Persian Gulf yesterday afternoon. Upton, making his second trip to the region within the last year, went to examine fraud and abuse surrounding the United Nations Oil for Food program, as well as to spend time with U.S. troops in Kuwait, Baghdad and Germany. On the return flight home, Upton stopped over at Ramstein Air Force Base to visit with soldiers wounded in combat.

Upton Announces Nearly $20,000
for Niles Fire Department

Department received $49,000 last year that
helped equip local HAZMAT team

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Fred Upton (R-St. Joseph) today announced that the Department of Homeland Security has awarded the Niles Fire Department $19,620 under the Assistance for Firefighters Grant Program. This grant program is in support of America's firefighters as first responders in the neighborhoods and communities they serve. Last year, Upton helped the City of Niles Fire Department secure $49,000 for HAZMAT equipment.

House Unanimously Passes Upton Bill Providing Regulatory Relief for Businesses Nationwide
Estimates predict pending fax rules would cost small businesses an average of $5,000 the first year

WASHINGTON, DC – The U.S. House of Representatives has unanimously passed Congressman Fred Upton's (R-St. Joseph) "Junk Fax Prevention Act of 2004" (H.R. 4600). Upton, chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Telecommunications and the Internet, introduced the bipartisan measure June 16th to help businesses across the nation. The Senate Commerce Committee is expected to consider similar legislation this week.
