The Great Seal of the State of Florida

January 7, 2004

Dear Parents and Educators:

I am pleased to announce the start of the 2003-2004-scholarship season. In conjunction with the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF), I am proud to offer the young people of the Third Congressional District the opportunity to further their educational pursuits and attend higher learning institutions.

I am asking for your assistance to spread the news of this exciting opportunity. There are several types of scholarships offered by the Foundation. There are scholarships for students entering the health fields of medicine and the sciences, liberal arts and general studies, and the performing arts. For your convenience, I have included a sheet with a brief description of each program. All information regarding qualifications and the application process are located on the CBCF Website at www.cbcfinc.org. Go to the CBC Spouses tab and click "scholarship". There you can print out an application and the information on the different programs.

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, so anytime is a good time to send in paperwork. Students must be graduating high school seniors, current undergraduate or pursuing graduate studies. Please make sure that all requested materials are enclosed, especially the original transcripts from the graduating high school or current university and letters of acceptance, if applicable. Due to tightened mail security we ask that you send this important and time sensitive information to an alternate address. Please mail all applications to: Attn. Roshan Hodge, CBCF Scholarships, 3109 River Bend Ct., #D-102, Laurel, MD, 20724.

Ms. Hodge is my staff contact for scholarships and internships. She can be reached in the Washington office at, 202-225-0123. Please feel free to contact her if you have any questions regarding the process. Good luck to all of this year’s applicants, and again thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
Signature of Congresswoman Corrine Brown
