Overall program direction for the enforcement
and compliance assurance program is described in the EPA strategic
plan, specifically Goal 5 - Compliance and Environmental Stewardship. Shorter term priorities
build from this strategic vision and can be found in the triannual National Program Managers (NPM) Guidance. Information on both
the long- and short-term planning efforts, as well as the results
and accomplishments of these efforts, are included here.
The reports documenting the results of the enforcement and compliance
program vary in scope from the broad, such as the reporting required
by the Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA), to specific,
such as the reports on enforcement trends and progress, as captured
in the Measures of Success (MOS) report. Also included are specific
measurement guidance and instruments, such as checklists and surveys,
to help the regulated community evaluate their efforts to comply
with applicable environmental requirements.
Information and links to the national compliance data systems,
which are the basis for reports and analysis, are also located
in this area. Special studies and in-depth analyses of specific
aspects of the enforcement and compliance assurance program can
be found in this area.
The success of the enforcement and compliance assurance program
relies on the support and participation of all stakeholders, and
the last topic in this area involves state and Tribal coordination,
including compliance grants and training which the enforcement
and compliance assurance program provides to states and Tribes.
