Objective:
The objective of this cooperative research project is to expand the potato growth model by incorporating soil water and nutrient transport and leaching components, and to incorporate various modules to assist in management decision making to improve the production efficiency and minimize nutrient and water losses.

Approach:
Review / field test and improve plant growht components of SIMPOTATO; review/field test plant growth components of other models (SUBSTOR model; collect specific data regarding different potato varieties; incorporate revised growth components into CROPSYST model; develop model-based products that are grower friendly; and link remote sensing and model.
