Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the
leading cause of vision loss for people over the age of 50 in the
Western world, affecting approximately 25-30 million people. However,
vision loss should not be an inevitable consequence of aging. The AMD
Alliance International is a global coalition of vision and seniors'
organizations dedicated to raising awareness of AMD and the options
available for prevention, early detection, treatment, rehabilitation
and support services. |
