Forensics
Forensics can include the application of facts to answer questions of criminal law pertaining to environmental enforcement investigations. Forensic specialists can provide
a wide variety of financial, technical, scientific, and regulatory/statutory
information pertaining to facilities, chemicals and pollution
control technologies. Skilled specialists can employ advanced
information techniques and computer technologies to assess, organize
and analyze information in order to prepare for investigations,
settlements, negotiations, and trials. Expert analysis of financial
records can determine ability to pay any proposed fines and/or
cleanup costs. Computer Forensics relates to computer seizure and recovery of data so that it can be analyzed. Some areas that can be focused on are laboratory fraud, fraudulent data reporting issues, internal data and security issues, and reverse engineering. Environmental Forensics Library provides research assistance to our primary clientele, gathering materials from the collection, searching online systems such as LEXIS-NEXIS, Dialog, STN and WestLaw. The Library supplies materials for this clientele by book acquisitions, interlibrary loan, and document delivery.
