Grants

The grant programs listed are those managed out of the Office of Environmental Justice. There may be other grants awarded by other EPA offices and regions which also address environmental justice issues. To find out, contact the appropriate media EJ coordinator or regional EJ coordinator based on your location or media of interest.

1. The Environmental Justice Cooperative Agreements Program provides financial assistance to eligible community-based organizations working on or planning to work on projects to address local environmental and/or public health concerns, using EPA's "environmental justice collaborative problem-solving model."

2. The Office of Environmental Justice Small Grant Program provides financial assistance to eligible community groups with projects that address environmental justice issues.

3. The EJ Community/University Partnership (CUP) Grant Program (PDF 41KB) was established to help community groups and tribal governments effectively address local environmental justice issues through active and collaborative partnerships with all institutions of higher education. It is no longer available.

4. The State and Tribal Environmental Justice (STEJ) Grant Program (PDF 34KB) was designed as a pilot program, assisting states and tribes in developing environmental justice programs that can be used as models for other states and tribes. It is no longer available.
