- Sigma Xi is very excited to tell you about our new sponsorship of the
Sally Ride TOYchallenge. The Sally Ride TOYchallenge allows students
in grades 5-8 to learn about science, engineering and the design
process while working on a team that designs a toy. Each team then
brings their toy to a TOYchallenge Showcase to compete against other
teams. Sigma Xi chapters and members can be part of this exciting program by:
- coaching one or more teams
- sponsoring a team
- volunteering to help at a TOYchallenge Showcase
- acting as a judge for a TOYchallenge Showcase
You'll be receiving a brochure in the mail with more details or you can learn more at our Web site:
http://sigmaxi.org/programs/education/toy.shtml
The deadline for expressing interest in this year's TOYchallenge is
January 9. Special funds are available to support teams coached by
Sigma Xi members or chapters. The deadline for teams to apply is January 30.
Contact: toychallenge@sigmaxi .org

Research at the Food and Drug Administration:
- Food & Drug
Administration Alumni Association (FDAAA)
The FDAAA was founded in 2001 by a small
group of FDA alumni and employees. The Association
originated from a very basic idea: to keep former
FDA employees "connected" to the important work of
our agency and to maintain collegial bonds among former
FDA colleagues. The idea quickly gained traction and
people from within and outside FDA - administrators,
managers, scientists, engineers, investigators, lawyers
and others - enthusiastically came together to give form
and substance to the organization. Their vision and hard
work resulted in the establishment of a non-profit Association,
whose membership is open to all current and former employees.
