Research Project: Evaluation of the Effectiveness of Experimental Transgenic Cotton Lines, Constructs, Or Events Developed by Bayer Cropscience

Location: Genetics and Precision Agriculture Research

Project Number: 6406-21000-010-22
Project Type: Trust

Start Date: Jul 01, 2003
End Date: Jun 20, 2008

Objective:
The objective of this cooperative research agreement is to evaluate the effectiveness of experimental transgenic cotton lines, constructs, or events developed by Bayer CropScience containing one or more transgenes for control of selected cotton insects.

Approach:
Selected cotton lines will be grown in field plots and artifically infested with cotton pest species larvae and also grown in plots free of these larvae. Laboratory assays will also be conducted with several species of larvae. Data will be collected to assess the effectiveness of the transgene(s) for control of the primary target pests. The various transgene(s), constructs, or events will also be evaluated for effects of agronomic and fiber properties. Effectiveness of transgenes in different cotton lines may be measured to determine if line by event interactions exist.
