Location and Hours
The National Gallery of Art, located on the National Mall between Third and Seventh Streets at Constitution Avenue, NW, is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Gallery is closed on December 25 and January 1. See also area map, public transportation, parking.

The National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden, located on the National Mall at 7th Street and Constitution Avenue, N.W., is bounded by Constitution Avenue and Madison Drive, and 7th and 9th Streets, N.W. See also area map, location, and hours.

Today in Gallery History
On October 16, 1988, the first exhibition devoted to the still lifes of Raphaelle Peale opened at the National Gallery of Art. Peale was the first major still-life artist to emerge in nineteenth-century America.
