Mission:
The mission of the Molecular Genetics Research Unit is to: (1) develop computational tools and molecular genetic resources that are useful in livestock; (2) identify and characterize the molecular genetic basis of traits important for the efficient production of meat from cattle, swine, and sheep; and (3) develop techniques to use genetic information to improve efficiency and product quality in cattle, swine, and sheep populations used in U.S. meat animal agriculture.
